With school and work.. time has been really limiting for me.. especially for fishing.. so when I have had the chances to get out so far this year.. I have headed south to be stream side and catch trout.. So today after work and homework I have a little spare time to get out to the local lake and hopefully put my 2wt to good use... And fortunately that was the case! Took about 20-30 to hand in the hour that I was out this afternoon.. along with 2 8"ers that really made my day.. and an unexpected surprise in what was about a 1lb largemouth... which put up a nice fight on the 2wt.
Looks like a fun afternoon! I went out to an old farm pond i'd always fished as a kid, but I got the old skunkaroo. I hadn't been there in a few years, and has me wondering if it winter killed this year or last.
ReplyDeleteWere all of your fish caught on that black bugger that I saw in the first picture?
Yeah.. every single fish caught today was caught on that very bugger.. #10 fyi.. may have had many more hookups had i used something brighter like an orange scud.. water was very murky.. but i really can't complain about catching a fish with almost every other cast
ReplyDeleteLove it! I have an addiction for panfish like bluegill and sunfish. Some great specimens.
ReplyDeleteI am with ColoradoCasters on this one. I love me some Bluegill fishing, and, those two in the picture have me anticipating fun when the water warms up.
ReplyDelete@mel.. well hopefully it warms up soon for you! One thing I often think about is moving up north towards the North Shore/Lake Superior area.. but then i realize it takes a lot longer to start fishing up there.. unless you wanna sit in front of a hole all day... which i don't find appealing one bit
